Special thanks to all our men and women and their families for the service they ALL do for our country.
I am amazed at how many folks are so giving even when they don't have much themselves. My mom gave Toys for Tots her last $20.00 the other day while she was on her way to get one of her pain meds. I asked her how she was going to get her medicane and she told me she decided some children needed Christmas more than she needed the meds. God would help her deal with the pain, as long as she took care of things at home. At my Paul Mitchell school I go to we are all collecting letters to send to the troops. If you are in the Dallas area come by and let me do you hair and remember to bring in a Holiday Card or Uplifting Note for one of our men and women serving our country away from home.

Okay girls and guys! Seeing if ya'll want to help! This is from one of my mom's friends! Lets help these soldiers eat Frito Pies for Christmas.

"So, as you know Marshall, my son, is in Kandahar Afghanistan on the
airstrip at the old airport there. Where he is they don't have a
kitchen, stove, microwaves,etc. For Thanksgiving dinner they are
eating powdered turkey and canned yams that they are heating up in
solar ovens. All that they want to eat for Christmas dinner is Frito
Pies!!

We called Frito Lay and they pretty much said, uh we'll get back to
you!! Well, we haven't heard anything so my husband and I are taking
matters into our own hands. There are 100 soldiers where Marshall is
stationed and Marshall has 11 soldiers in his unit. So, my husband
and I got to thinking that we can fit the fixings of frito pies into
the large flat rate boxes and send enough food in each of the boxes to
feed all 100 of them in 11 boxes and send them to Marshall's unit!

This is where ya'll come in! We figure that to send two boxes to each
soldier in his unit would be $35 which includes the cost of the Flat
Rate shipping and would hold enough food for 10 soldiers to have two
to three servings of a Frito Pie with Hormel Chili, cheese, and
jalapenos.

We're also going to include a card with everyone's name who donated
and we'll take pictures of everything we do and post them on my blog.
If you can't afford the two boxes any amount would do. We need a
total of $385 and we've already gotten $222.00. We are not going to go
above the money we need nor are we keeping anything for ourselves.

Went Soldier Shopping Yesterday

Mondays I am off of school so Mom and I went Soldier Shopping. No we did not go and try to buy us a soldier or two we went shopping for items to fill a couple boxes of goodies to send to Uncle Jeremy and extras for his unit and others who don't get packages.

Here are some suggestions if you are going to send out some care packages to our men and women over seas....
Ground Coffee in different flavors
Dried Creamers in all flavors
Sugar Cubes (hard to find but will be fun for them)
Grab N Go Cups
Stir Sticks
Cookies ( not chocolate it will melt)
Jerky
Popcorn in a Bag prepopped
Gum
Baby Wipes (they repell bugs and also are good for that in between shower times)
Music
Books
Pictures
Letters from home! Keep them positive and let them know how much you love them.

Did you know that the USPS or Post Office as a special large flat rate box for our military and look how wonderful it is.....

And special for the sender is a discount rate for sending care packages to an FPO or APO address!

We have an Address for Uncle Jeremy stationed in Iraq

My Uncle Jeremy who is more like my big brother is now in Iraq. I have his address and he would love to be able to hand out letters and care packages to those in his unit and area that don't get any letters from home. Sadly many of our service men and women have no one writing them or sending them care packages from home. My Uncle Jeremy's address is

The Post Office here in the States has flat rate priority boxes that you can pack with items for a service man or women and they will ship it to them for a reduced fee. Letters and Holiday Cards are welcomed! Uncle Jeremy said music is something that everyone of them loves to get cause they don't get the updated music in Iraq.

This was a long while ago when Uncle Jeremy left our house to join the Army but you can tell from the picture how proud my sister and I are of him! He is in our heart and we want to help others.

Just think about what it would be like to be across the world from your family and how lonely it must be. You are there with your unit and they are a family of sorts but your wife, husband, kids, mom and dad ...FAMILY are back home in the states and all you have is a picture ...IF THAT. Please help keep our service men and women positive and let them know you care about THEM. Don't have to agree or disagree about the War, this is about the men and women serving our country.
Please positive only notes and NO BASHING! Uncle Jeremy will screen letter that come in as he doesn't want to pass anything negative to his unit and others serving our country.

The Silent Ranks

I wear no uniforms, no blues or army greens.

But I am in the military in the ranks rarely seen.

I have no rank upon my shoulders. salutes I do not give.

But the military world is the place where I live.

I'm not in the chain of command, orders I do not get.

But my husband is the one who does, this I cannot forget.

I'm not the ones who fires the weapon, who puts my life on the line.

But my job is just as tough. I am the one that's left behind.

My husband is a patriot, a brave prideful man

and the call to serve his country, not all can understand.

Behind the lines I see the things needed to keep this country free.

My husband makes the sacrifice, but so do our kids and me.

I love the man I married. Soldiering is his life.

But I stand among the silent ranks known as the Military Wife.

I don't know who wrote this buy my mom received it today among some others that I will be posting on here in the days to come please keep my Aunt Adriana and the other families left behind in your thoughts and prayers. It is so hard to be a family member of someone who chooses to give their all for our country. They all need our prayers ..no matter what you think about the war.

WOW He's off again

I came home from work last night to see my mom sitting in the recliner sewing and crying. First it scared me, when I realized it was that time again. My Uncle Jeremy ( or Jamie) who is really more like my big brother is headed back to Iraq. I thought we might get to see him this time between his trips to the war but we live to far away from where he is stationed. He is lucky that he is in NY so Adriana and the kids can be close to her parents while he is away. I really miss him and hopefully in December I will get to see Adriana and the kids. Can't wait to see Bella in person her pictures are so cute.

When he gets settled in Iraq he is going to be sending me names and address to others in his unit and soldiers that need some cards and letters from home. Please keep our soldiers in your thoughts and prayers and bring home my Uncle Jeremy save and sound.

Not sure how to get this going except by asking.... so here goes. We are looking for the following Angels to help us out.
1. If you can would like to send a little cheer to a military family for the upcoming holidays please drop us a line. We need your name, email and if you can sponsor a military family.
2. Would you like to be a pen pal to a solider stationed away from home?

Uncle Jamie is stationed at Ft Drum NY and I am here in Texas but he is the only solider I know right now so I will be asking him to send me information on some families who will be needing some Angels in their lives for the holidays. He will be deploying to Iraq again in October and so I know he will know some guys and gals who could use a pen pal or two.

I know that things start off slow and we all have to learn with baby steps so this is my first baby step towards helping our some of those special folks who help keep us safe day in and out.
